HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To generate your screenplay coverage using AI models.
• To deliver your coverage PDF or ZIP via download and email.
• To create and manage your Xandland account if you sign up or purchase the Ultimate Quad Coverage Membership.
• To recognize your membership across other Xandland properties that share the same account system.
• To process your payment securely through Stripe.
• To send you transactional emails related to your coverage order.
• To send you membership renewal reminder emails before any annual renewal charge.
• With your consent, to send you occasional marketing or promotional emails about Xandland products, features, and offers. You may opt out of these at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email.
• To maintain your coverage history so you can access past coverages.
• To respond to your questions or support requests.
• To improve the quality and performance of our service.
• To comply with legal obligations.

YOUR SCREENPLAY — HOW WE HANDLE IT

Your screenplay is your unpublished creative work and we treat it accordingly. Here is exactly what happens when you submit it:

• Your file is uploaded securely to our server.
• The text is extracted from your file and sent to AI model APIs solely for the purpose of generating your coverage.
• We access all AI models exclusively through their professional APIs — not through consumer-facing products like Claude.ai, ChatGPT.com, or Google Gemini's website.
• Under the current professional API terms of these providers, as of the date of this policy, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and xAI do not use API inputs to train or improve their AI models. Your screenplay is processed to generate your coverage. We do not authorize or opt into any data-retention-for-training program offered by these providers. Because these are third-party services governed by their own terms, we encourage you to review their privacy policies, linked below, for their current practices.
• Your screenplay text is not stored permanently on our servers beyond what is necessary to generate and deliver your coverage.
• We do not read, review, copy, or share your screenplay with any human employee, contractor, or third party.
• If you opt into the Xandland Showcase, only your title, genre, and logline are made public. Your full screenplay is never shared without your direct consent.

THIRD PARTY SERVICES WE USE

We use the following third party services to operate XLCoverage. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:

COOKIES AND ANALYTICS

Our site uses essential cookies to maintain your login session, including sessions shared across Xandland properties via auth.xandland.com. We may also use basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand site traffic, such as pages visited and general geographic region.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to advertisers. We do not display ads on this site.

By using our site you consent to the use of cookies as described above. Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in.

EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS AND YOUR CHOICES

We send two categories of email:

• Transactional emails — These relate directly to your account, purchases, coverage delivery, and membership renewals. Because they are necessary to provide the service you purchased, they are not promotional and cannot be unsubscribed from while you maintain an active account or membership.
• Marketing emails — These include newsletters, product announcements, special offers, and other promotional content about Xandland products. We send these only where permitted, and every marketing email includes a clear unsubscribe link. You may opt out at any time, and we will honor your request promptly.

Unsubscribing from marketing emails will not affect your ability to receive necessary transactional emails about your account and orders. We comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and other applicable email regulations.

DATA RETENTION

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our service and comply with our legal obligations:

• Account information is retained for the duration of your active Xandland account plus a reasonable period thereafter.
• Coverage history is retained so you can access past coverages — you may request deletion at any time.
• Payment records are retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations.
• Screenplay files submitted for coverage are not retained permanently and are deleted from our servers after your coverage has been generated and delivered.

YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to Access — You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Correction — You may request that we correct any inaccurate information we hold about you.
• Right to Deletion — You may request that we delete your personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
• Right to Portability — You may request your data in a portable format.
• Right to Object — You may object to certain types of processing of your personal data.
• Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing — We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, but California residents may still submit a request for confirmation.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

XLCoverage is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. DATA SECURITY

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

• All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS.
• API keys and sensitive credentials are stored securely in environment variables and never exposed in our codebase.
• Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant.
• Account passwords are stored in encrypted/hashed form and are never visible to us in plain text.
• Access to user data is restricted to only those systems and processes that require it to function.

INTERNATIONAL USERS

XLCoverage is operated from the United States. If you are accessing our service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located and our central database is operated.

By using our service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

GOVERNING LAW

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Texas.
